Cyrille Gautreau, 88, of Foyer St. Thomas and formerly of Pré-d'en-Haut, died Tuesday at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Cyrille Gautreau Born in Pré-d'en-Haut, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Henriette (Gaudet). He was a retired long-shoreman with the Canadian Pacific Railway in Saint John. He attended the Notre Dame de l'Annonciation in Pré-d'en-Haut and he was a member of the Club d'age d'or in Pr-d'en-Haut.

He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Gérard Gautreau (Anita), Mrs. Francis Gautreau (Maria) and Mrs. Roger Cormier (Jeannine), all of Pré-d'en-Haut, Mrs. Robert Poirier (Célina) of St. Joseph, Mrs. Amédée LeBlanc (Gloria) of College Bridge, Mrs. Gilles Poney (Dorina) of Moncton and Mrs. Michel Saulnier (Eva) of Kitimat, B.C.; four sons, Léonce and Normand, both of Pré-d'en-Haut, Donal of Memramcook East and Roger of Memramcook West; one sister, Célina of Lynn, Mass.; 36 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Evéline (Auffrey); five brothers, Cédric, Marcial, Anselme, Félicie and Fred; and a sister, Adèle LeBlanc.

The body is at Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, with the funeral to be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Notre Dame de l'Annonciation Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
